3. Controlling Heat and Shrinkage

The fixture geometry also accounts for the final shrinkage, so the finished part lands on the target size instead of the starting size. A well-designed jig gives the welder access to both sides of every joint, allowing a balanced welding sequence in which contraction forces cancel out rather than stack up.
